I am SHAY PERY,
37, live and work in Pardes Hanna Karkur; Israel.
My works explore the urban perceptions of reality, the surrounding within the city structures, the “in-betweens” of everyday objects that are often un-accounted for, and go unnoticed.
My exploration of urban spaces begins with a journey around the city, I collect physical materials from urban scenes, often unique pieces of wood from construction sights. I use the raw material along with the collection of visual materials such as sketches and photographs of situations and structures in the urban landscape;
I create a dialogue that moves out of the public realm and into my studio as I envision the transformation, leading to a renewed relationship with the urban landscape.
The materials are processed and refined in the studio into a work of art. The connection between the visual and physical objects that characterize my works creates a new meaning and a different perspective on everyday situations.
